My partner has applied for us to go on "Dont Tell The Bride".
I am assuming that the show gets thousands of applications so I am not going to concern myself with whether I think this is a good idea or not as likely to get no response!
We do want to marry within 2-3 years and we are struggling to finance and agree on a definite wedding plan, but if we got accepted on to the show, would I want to go through with it? I am not sure. £12k to plan a wedding does sound great

I don't think I have seen one sensible groom on there yet - they seem to like you to do the complete opposite of what your bride would like!!
But so many of the brides seem to like the end result.

The only thing I'd trust my OH with is the dress.
Do they give you 12k to spend on the wedding ?
Yes Baz, 12K for everything to do with the wedding including the Stag and Hen nights.
please do something really off the wall
Yes, they do.
ditto.....if you have a dream of your big day, either drill your partner on every last detail, or don't appear. my wedding was interfered with and nobbled by my parents, his mother and god knows who else. i wish we had escaped to gretna green and got married in jeans and t-shirts (we couldn't have afforded anything else!). but, as you say, getting on there is unlikely, unless you and your partner are 'interesting' (i.e. a freak) in some way, or the programme wouldn't be interesting, would it!?

We have a basic agreement on what we BOTH want. But, that isnt going to make good tele so I guess we could manipulate them into thinking we are opposites and end up with kind of what we wanted, and paid for. Bet nobody else thought of that one!!!
I am lol at the thought of us doing that. Mr BM is completely and utterly hopeless. Absolutely nothing would get done in time or at all and he would forget really important stuff like who is going to marry us etc. His best man is no better. It would be an absolute train crash.
lol, i'll bet that been tried a few times...
I did see a bit of one episode where the bride was , beside herself with dissapointmnet with the wedding dress that her partner chose . She was adamant that she was not going to wear it .

Considering your wedding is up there as the most important/happy event in your life ; these brides must have a lot of faith in their husbands to be , choosing a dress that the bride may not like . Think of the feeling each time you look at the wedding album .

Still , that's the risk you take , for a free 12k .

not just the dress of course , but the whole event

Or the groom who oragnised an underwater wedding in a local pool. The bride was gutted after hours in hair and make up! The producers must discuss these things with potential couples well in advance and the producers must have a control on the filming and guide the couples in a direction that will make the best television. Far more manifactured than you would assume.
i'd assume it was totally manufactured and the couple selected are done so, based on the their malleability
An acquaintance of mine was featured recently. Made great telly although the wedding was about as far removed from what the bride wanted as I am from marrying Prince Harry! I believe all was well in the end though
if you do get thru-pls keep us posted- you must sit him down and do some pre planning together , sums etc pre shopping as to what your dress should be like, bridesmaids etc, and dont let him spend a fortune on his stag night ether ! its a bit sneaky but practicle.
what is your dress going to be like jd :-))))))))))))
