If your children/grandchildren are like mine they love a bit of magic, I have a couple of simple tricks to share if anyone interested.

This is the memory test

you tell your audience you have found a way to improve your memory and to prove it you have memorised a full pack of cards, in front of you is a pack of cards still in the box, ask a member of the audience the name of any card, you will then tell them the card next to it, take out the cards fan through them untill you come to their card and next to it will be the card you predicted.

The way to do this is earlier in the day get a pack of cards and split them into the four suits, then start with the ace of hearts then add three so the next card is the 4 of spades, add three again the next card will then be the 7 of diamonds, add three again the next card will then be the 10 of spades then carry on till all 52 cards used.

All you have to remember is hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs adding three each time. People will be amazed at your memory, trouble is when you have done trick you have forgot where you put your drink, and remember to put cards back in right place

That, on first reading, sounds quite complicated; but, I'm going to practice it...Thanks, magicmick.
Wow! I even shuffled the cards, found my drink, and it still works...amazing!!

Stewy you can't shuffle the cards once they have been set up as that would spoil the sequence, but you can cut the cards, once you get used to it you can set it up in a matter of mins, I was once at a friends house and told them I could memorise a pack of cards in five mins so they gave me a pack I went into another room, they were then amazed, good luck with it
