Only 1 left to watch next week, boo hoo! What a joy it has been, made Sunday evenings a pleasure again. Why are good programmes such short series?

I agree. It's been a pleasure to watch. Hopefully a new series will be on the cards.

I loved it. I'm going to get the books too. I thought the star was Miranda Hart - brilliant as Chummy!
i missed last night^s episode :(

Yes horseshoes, she was never one of my favourites before but she was good in this. Hope there is another series.
I totally agree, a very good series, and Miranda Hart is just perfect.
Wasn't sure about Miranda Hart as I don't really like her, but she's been excellent in The Midwife.
I've never seen such huge newborn piglets. If they were all that size I'm not surprised most of them were dead inside the sow.
It has been excellent and I will miss it. I remember that decade very well and it has brought back so many memories. So different from all the other feel good Sunday evening dramas that we have had to endure over the years. Miranda Hart has been wonderful in the part.
brilliant series, just brilliant!
I too loved it

What decade was it set in though - late fifties?
Ric.ror........middle fifties........certainly brought back memories......I did "midder" in the East End of London.....rode those bicycles and suffered the wrath of those midwives, many a time.
Hi Sqad, you OK?
Hi! Lofty...back to driving a car......back to swimming...fine thanks.
I remember going to school having to wear a nurses mask because of the London smogs. You really couldn't see your hand in front of your face and if you didn't cover your nose................. well....................... yuk!!!!!
Great Sqad. So pleased x
Lofty.....I felt safe at night and in the smog in the 50's, but wouldn't go out at night in the back streets of the EAST END now.....
Thanks for that
The programme makes me inordinatly proud of the NHS and the Welfare State in general
Absolutely Sqad. To think that as a child I was out and about in London on my own, trains, buses, tubes!!!!
Must say I enjoyed it immensely. Pity it is finishing :(
My Mum was a St Johns Ambulance nurse back in those days on a voluntary basis. She still had to wear a nurses uniform and she used to go out on her bicycle just like those nurses. (That's how I got the nurses masks to wear when I went out!)
