Always try to do what I'm asked to do Mikey! Hope they haven't messed it about.
The Village of the Damned.
And I don’t mean Ambridge.
Gromit....10 mins on the naughty step for you !
I missed the first 20 mins I'm afraid...dropped off in the chair waiting for it to start ( 15:00 on a Sunday is not the best time for me ! )

But I wasn't impressed. I felt it had been updated too much from the early 50's when it was first published, and the mid 60's when I read it as a boy.

But perhaps that is just my age talking !

What did everybody else think ?
Mikey, //But perhaps that is just my age talking !

What did everybody else think ? //

I think it's your age talking too. ;o)
Naomi....if you haven't listened to this, then I am not sure why you are commenting ?
Happy New Year, Mikey. ;o)
leave it mikey - it aint worf it
and have a good New Year too
Yes.....HNY to you too Peter !
Haaaa! How rude!!
Couldn't listen to it all. Enjoyed what I heard.

Didn't enjoy the unnecessary snipe at Naomi. For one who waxes lyrical about their 'great age' you can be incredibly childish in your behaviour Mikey,

I agree with you Mikey. Wasn't sure what to expect, but am disappointed. Being pedantic (very) by nature, I was put out by their many references to the 'town' of Midwich'.
It's caused me to get the book off my bookshelves and I will read it again and wallow in the beautiful language, so that's a positive.
I've recorded it so I'm interested in what you say, Mikey and Helly....will listen late tonight.....

What was your opinion of the production, Naomi.......does it differ from the other two and make me more likely to enjoy it?
I didn't listen to it gness and I've no idea what you might enjoy.
Ah sorry, Naomi......I thought your answer to Mikey meant you'd listened and his poor opinion of the programme was due to his age.

I didn't realise you weren't in a position to offer an opinion.
I was a bit put off by the violence in the script....making 2 boys crash a car, and then making another boy stick a broken bottle into his own neck. There was none of that in the book.

Not sure if I will bother with the second episode to be honest.
Perhaps not my bedtime listening then, Mikey......I will record the second episode and after listening to this one decide.....I did listen to the first few minutes to make sure it was recording and it seemed okay......I shall see......x
gness, tut! Silly me. Next time you're around when I pull someone's leg I'll be sure to make it clear to you that a leg is being pulled.
Gness....my original point was that it would be interesting to see what other, perhaps younger people thought of the adaption of the novel.

My listening was perhaps coloured by those days reading it in the 60's, when I was about 14.

Certainly this production didn't seem to come up to same exacting standards of the BBC's previous adaption of a Wyndham novel, "The Chrysalids"

That was excellent.
