In the film Tron, does "Tron" actually stand for anything? is it an acronym for something?

According to IMDB trivia http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084827/trivia

"...Steven Lisberger [wrote the screenplay] has stated in interviews that he took the name from the word electronic..."
There used to be keys on old computer keyboards labelled TRON and TROFF.
I never did know what they were for but looking at bibblebubs link below someone says they were old BASIC commands meaning trace on and trace off.
It could be that he word TRON sort of etched itself into his subconscious from that.
