Is there anyone out there who can remember a series that was shown in the UK in the late 60's about an American family called the Monroes? I can't remember anything else about it as I was a mere child at the time except it was a big family and the youngest daughter was called Amy and I believe it was set in the past. Any clues?

Thanks Kenpie you're quite right, that is the show I was thinking of- nice to read about it as I had no idea what it was actually about, I was only about 7 at the time but it's always stuck in my mind. What a great site this is!
The Monroes was set in the 'wild west' about some (4?) children whose parents were killed by Indians.  The orphans decide to continue their journey across the States,  also featured an older man with one arm who 'adopted' the kids, (the actor is very familiar).  I think I remember it had a memorable theme tune.  Your the first person I've met who remembers it, I loved it and have no idea how it disappeared so completely.
