I live in a 3 bed house and love it where I am. Over the last few weeks, all we can smell is weed in our house. We know it’s the next door neighbors, but it’s such a strong smell, we think they could be growing it. You can literally smell it lying in bed at night. If weed is grown in the home, does it smell like it would if it is being smoked? As it’s exactly the same smell. It’s getting me and my partner so down in the dumps as our 1 year old is breathing this in and we’ve constantly got plug it ins on to get rid of the smell.

As it’s a council home, we have looked at swapping with someone, so that we don’t have to put up with the neighbors. I’m sad at this as I love the house I’m and feel pressured into moving out.

We don’t want to say something to the neighbor as he’s a rough neck and is friends with loads of nutters. He has party’s in his home most nights and plays that annoying niche music. I just don’t know what to do. The land lady of the property is as scummy as the lodger, and so we don’t know what to do. We can’t report them to the land lady and so we feel totally trapped.

I probably would be happy to move, but all the people that are interested in our home can only offer us 2 bedroom. So not only am I losing a room, I’m more or less being bullied out of my home.
What would you do and what can I do legally? I don’t want the neighbor to know we’ve done anything such as grass, as I have to bring my daughter up there and don’t want any trouble. Plus my partner is always working away and so don’t want any trouble at my door!!!

yes you would be able to smell it if it was just plants

call your locl police station, you dont have to give your name
If it is a council house, who is the landlady? If it is a council house you need to talk to them first, bu I agree you could call crimestoppers, the neighbours need not know it was you.

I've said to my partner, let's call the police, but he says there's nothing that can be done. He will just get a slap on the wrist..

Marval - My house is council, but the neighbours privately rent.
someone growing drugs will not just get a slap on the wrist. Usually they try and bypass the electricity supplies which is also a crime.

report it yourself and dont tell your partner.

Report it and get the chance of you face being "re-arranged" in a nearby alley at night.

oh sqad, the neighbour would not know it was her, the polcie have all sorts of ways of catching such criminals, it seems these just need a tip off.

Ive seen a few houses raided over and over and eventually the occupants charged and either sent to prison or evicted. At no time has any neighbour been accused of reporting it or threatened in any way, and thats even after we all sat outside one house late one evening watching it being searched lol

Why would that happen Squad? They wouldn't know it was me, so please take your scaremongering else where. And here was me thinking you had some valid advice in the other post.

Thanks guys, i'll see what's best :-)

Question Author
It was the way you put it that was un called for and irritating.
yellownana........but that IS ME..."uncalled for and irritating", but that is also my opinion on your question.

yellownana.....just heed what Butch says.......we COULD become friends as sometimes I do lower my standards and talk to "inferiors"............ask Vibra.
I'd call the police, but if nothing is done and as I said in chatterbank if there is only you, your partner and child, what is wrong with a 2 bed? It shouldnt matter if you lose a 'spare' room if it helps your childs health
Sorry you`re getting such mixed advice. As someone sensibly mentioned, call Crimestoppers. As they say you don`t have to give your name.
