I've only just watched the last episode today and thanks to an earlier question most of what I didn't follow was explained !! But what happened to Annie at the end of Life on Mars? Some one mentioned her as being with Sam so I either didn't get it or I missed something! Please explain!

She was also dead. Gene helped her and Sam come to terms with that and they both transcened to the next level (Heaven/Railway Arms) as a couple.
