Since changing the battery on my Micra due to it drained, I put the radio code in and it worked ok. Whilt the radio was on the CD unit kept coming up with "CD error" and was making some weird noises (no CD was in the slot) which blocked the radio out then the radio came back on again, it happened everytime I had the unit on. I read in the handbook that if temperatures were cold (and it was damp) the unit would "play up" at times so that I guessed was it. However, after a few trips out it behaved itself until the other day when it won't switch on at all now (no radio, no CD) and no CD in the slot. It's as dead as a dodo!! I wonder if it's blow a fuse. I don't know where the fuse box is on this car so can anyone tell me where I find it and perhaps explain why it's happened? Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I think you will need a replacement CD/Radio. That is .. if those problems are all happening when battery is charged (or engine running)

Hi, if you know where the Fuse box is on your car look on the Inside cover on the fuse box lid, it will tell you on there what fuse it will be, It will be 15amp, if you have a handbook with the car, look in the book. you will have to re insert the code.

Thanks TWR and Albags, I will definitely look in the handbook to at least check the fuse. I think you could be right Albags.....but from what I see on tinternet....the darned dashboard has to come out to extricate the radio/cd unit on this car (scream)...so that's an expensive job as I certainly can't do it myself.....think I will have to forget having in-car entertainment lol.
Had exactly the same problem on my other halves car. Glad to hear its not just us in some way. Have bought a replacement stereo from Halfords and am going to fit it myself (not too complex, and have done plenty before). Don't be put off by having to remove lots of the dash!
