I recommend stopping SHOUTING first
You'd be best to search in a fansite as it's too much to tell you! They did go back and they didn't, not really clear (is it ever!) but currently we are seeing them on the plane and it did not crash, and still on the island after Juliette hit the bomb. By the way it is repeated on Saturday night and on Tuesday evening.
Oh yes and it wasn't the nuclear device itself that would have done it.
Originally, when they dug that spot they discovered this pocket of energy which desmond then kept under control by pressing the button. The day he didn't press it, the enrgy was released which caused the plane to crash. The idea was if they explode the bomb these things would never have come about.

John Locke is really dead, the Locke we are seeing appears to be an embodiment of the smoke monster and an old old enemy of Jacob, who, although killed by ben in aprevious episode, is now visiting Harley.
And Sayid appears to be dead.

They also appear to be doing some sort of 'what if' flashes, that is, "What if setting off the nuclear device had worked and they'd landed in LA instead of on the island." So far in these parts- Kate escaped from the police bloke and got in a taxi with Claire, Charlie nearly died but Jack saved him (Charlie seemed v annoyed at this), Jack's dad's body disappeared, Desmond was on the flight (possibly they would have changed the whole fabric of time if it had worked?), Shannon (remember her??) wasn't on the flight for some reason, Locke's still in a wheelchair but Jack gave him his card in case he ever wanted a free consultation and I realised that Rose wouldn't be cured if they didn't land on the island, Jin and Sun are having troubles at customs, errm, can't remember anything else, oh yeah! Sawyer found out Hurley is a millionaire and told him not to tell people because they'll take advantage! Also back in non flashy world (i.e. on the island) Saywer got Miles to listen to dead Juliette who wanted to tell Sawyer something before she kicked the bucket and it turned out what she'd said was "It worked" (suppose she means the device?)
American series are all about making as many episodes as they can.

They dont stop at a natural point, they just keep making them while they are still successful.

So dont expect some of these shows to make sense, they just want to keep stringing you along.
