There is a band from the 80's called "Information Society" who loved to use sound bites from movies and TV shows in thier songs. One of the songs, " What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)" used a line from the Star Trek TV show. It was by Leonard Nimoy and the line was "Pure Energy". It may have been simple but it is one of the best and most popular ever concieved. I know that Information Society has used several of these sound bites from the Star Trek TV show and I would like to know if it was a coincidence or did they use the show because it was a favorite of thiers. Maybe they had another reason. Please reply and let me know. Also, if you know of any other popular sound bites used and where they came from I would appreciate that information too. Thanks you in advance..........

God, I have that album!  As for their tendency to use these samples, here's a quote from an interview with Kurt Valaquen, one of the band members:

FAVORITE RECORD

"An album that Leonard Nimoy did right after Star Trek finished on television.  It's called Mr Spock's Music From Outer Space, and it's got songs with him singing and speaking as Mr. Spock!  I've watched Star Trek all my life and I use it a lot in our music. I make cassette tapes off the shows on television then pick out little pieces of music or phrases to use as samples in the songs.
I'm not a hard-core Trekkie, though. I've met people who are in the offfical Star Trek club, and I do think their attitude is somehow very different from mine."

So there you have it, from the horse's mouth as it were!
