To-day Fern Cotton mentioned that when she bakes a cake she takes it out of the oven when it`s nearly done to `rest` for a while and then she puts it back later to finish. Has any one heard of this procedure before? It`s the wifes question, not mine. (So be kind)

Never heard of putting a cake back in the oven after resting, but if it is Fern Britton maybe she got this tip off her chef husband.

If it's Fearne Cotton, I can't imagine what she's doing

She was talking about baking a fruit cake in an aga oven.Her husband said he doesn`t like aga ovens but she does.By the way it`s Fern Britton.
