Are lady cats fiercer than boy cats?

My two bosses are brother and sister. They were born to a feral mummy.

Princess Merlin is a beautiful long haired black and white moggie. She has got a really short fuse and thinks nothing of biting me or giving her brother a punch with an armed paw.

Frankie is a friendly, playful 3 year old kitten. He wants to play with his sister and chase her around. He sometimes play-fights with her - she fights for real.

Frankie follows me to the toilet and will go to his litter tray (which is in the bathroom) when I am at the loo. He sits and talks to me. Merlin will impatiently wait outside the loo until I am finished before going to the litter tray in private. She never sits and talks to me.

Are toms, as a rule, better natured that ladies?

Na, I think it just depends on the cat. My Monty's as sweet as they come - until he's having a fight with his sister and then the fur flies! He adores her, though - they lie on the sofa, asleep, arms round each other. Their mother, Gavin (I know...it was K Jnr's idea to call her that!), can be very affectionate one minute, then turn nasty and she loathes poor Romy, one of my old girls. Romy doesn't help, though, by throwing hissy fits at Gav and growling at the youngsters (maybe their mum's just protecting them?). Cassie's very laid back with everyone.
the female of the species is more deadly than the male!! I beleive that, I think its cos we got more to lose than men!!

I am female but agree that we can be pretty nasty and vicious in a fight.

Kleiber - I only ever remember Monty's name - since he is a penfriend of Frankies. Gavin IS an unusual cat name even for a boy cat. Monty, Gavin, Romy and Cassie - is there a Cleo somewhere too.

I am off to bed for - no doubt to be wakened up later by fighting felines or a starving Frankie.
Cleo's Monty's sister and she's just woken up & is about to walk all over the keyboard!!
Out of my 7 I have 4 girls and 3 boys!

Sammy - Queen of the house, adores me and my partner and only ever wants cuddles but very grumpy to the others!

Smokie - He adores cuddles and sleeps on my pillow, big big softy, very gentle apart from when he stands up to sammy and all hell breaks loose! (although that is rare!)

Spinks - She is a gorgeous very little girl and not quite there in the brain department, she adores my partner and loves cuddles

Kacey - the quiet one of the lot, loves her cuddles again, would never have a go at another cat and is more laid back!

Splodge - He is a gimp lol! He is a very very camp cat and if you stop stroking him he will either gently bite your hand or lie on the floor stroking his own head (that sounds rude!)

Leo - He is the 2nd youngest but by far the biggest, cries like a girl, doesnt come for cuddles but is a very gentle boy

And of course my Cefa! - Who is the most adorable, loving, affectionate cat I have ever ever met, she is like my shadow and is the most beautiful girl!

So I suppose going by that, Sammy would make it seem like boys are possibly better natured, yet Cefa makes up 10 times for Sammys grumpiness!
And I would also like to add, we only have a littlescrap once every 6 months or so! I have the most loving cuddley cats I could ever of asked for! Both me and my fella both say we could not ask for a better family!

And oh, I have a Cleo! But she is of the canine kind! My little 11 wk old spaniel cross :)

and as I have mentioned the others, of course there is my stunning Samoyed Ashke!
Of the 9 cats I have had over the last 27 years, 4 have been girls and two of them have been tempermental ....Mitsy,who lived to the ripe old age of 15+ was a great mouser and a bit stand-offish,she was followed by Cleo, who would swipe anyone and anything at random. In between there was no-name'-who I only had for 2 weeks as she was ill.Tara was/is(my ex has her) a dopey lap cat who loves to sleep under the duvet. Of the boys,Sake was the 14lb 'dog-cat' and as soppy as they come, and Caspar-my new boy-looks set to follow in his footsteps...all the other boys have been quite mellow. Conclusion: males mellow, females: a bit tempermental.

I love my two girls (even though Florence had me awake before 5am today yelling at me!) They are affectionate and very good with each other and I wouldn't change them. But I would love to have another tom cat one day as I have always found them to be very loving and affectionate.
Boots is a tiny felix moggy, he's very gentle, loves cuddles etc. Whirly-dude adopted us, she's a bengal cat, twice Boot's size, likes attention on her terms and will bite, scratch etc if she's not in the mood. She'll pick fights with him and chase him around the house but comes bawling when he swipes her. they are usually best friends at 6.30 am every day when they decide its time for me to get up and feed them - they don't usually bother to eat then, they usually go back to bed for a few more hours!!!!
In my experience, as with people - it defintiely depends on the personality. My female cat is a right spitfire with her brother, and will hiss, spit, and growl if he starts playing rough with her. She really knows how to stand up for herself. My male cat on the other hand is a soft lump and runs away and hides. I'e never seen him stand up for himself once !
I have had lots of cats over the years, and though i have loved them all I have to say that the boys are more affectionate and gentle than the girls. Girls can be very moody and temperamental. Like women really. I have got a lovely blue persian girl at the moment, and she is soo nice. But in my experience she is the exception rather than the rule.

So I think that we can say that ladies are moody and boys are laid back......in general that is.

Blame the hormones, well that is what I do when I have some guy by the throat for some minor reason during the 'wrong' time of the month.

Thanks

:-)
