ben freeman, the actor who plays him, has been sacked apparently so i doubt he will be coming back.

he is currently awaiting trial for rape in barbados i think.

Yup - they haven't "renewed" his contract and will not do so whilst this is hanging over his head

It�s a dilemma really. They can�t very well carry on screening a potential rapist in a national soap, but in doing so potentially destroy the career and credibility of an innocent man. Having said that, it doesn�t appear to have much affected Craig Charles who was exonerated for similar in 1995.
