don't think the contents of the case is in the script. its down to the viewers own imagination, my guess is gold.
as for the plaster, don't think there was any reason , it just was.
one theory is that the briefcase contains his soul and that the plaster has something to do with that

Can anyone expand on spats theory?
The gold glow was actually a light and a battery. but as for what it was ment to be, it is a mistery
i heard it was his soul....hence why the bullets didnt kill him when that guy fired them right at him....also i think the devil is meant to remove your soul from the back of your neck ...hence the plaster (ok i might have made that bit up) ...but i defo got an email explaining the whole thing not long after the film came out....search about and no doubt you will find many theories
Absolutely no one knows - this question has been asked time and again on IMDb, and if they don't know, no one does. As a previous poster said, it is down to personal interpretation.
Even Tarantino doesn't know
Minimonkey. it was samuel jacksons character that had all the bullets miss, not marcelus wallace
well in that case maybe it was divine intervention because he hadn't sold his soul!! like a reward!
it dosent matter wot is in the case,in film terms its called a mguffin
