Just watching the Corrie omnibus. Can someone explain to me this joke?
Steve, Liz and her boyfriend in the flat talking.
Steve says: "Lloyd and Kelly were on a break".
Liz's drummer boyfriend replies: "put on a T-shirt", then he plays that well known jingle on the drums after someone does a gag

They were on a break. It's a gag nicked from Friends.

It's when Ross keeps saying we were on a break for his infidelity!

The drum riff. 'Ba dum tish' is used and has been used to underline cheesy or poor jokes.

e.g. My dog has no nose!
How does he smell?
Awful, he hasn't had a bath in weeks! Ba dum tish!
yes snappy but why the put on a t shirt? Is it cos the footie subs have to wear a top if they are on the bench ? Just a guess lol
I thought it was more of a - you keep saying it, like Steve does....Put it on a tshirt why don'tya!

Thanks for the answers. I know about the 'ba dum tish' and that friends eposode, but like what dot says, why put on a t-shirt??
Could it be in reference to:

"Been there - done that - got the T' shirt?

Lizzie's boyfriend made a passing comment once before, when they were discussing Steve sleeping with Kelly: "We've all slept with our best mate's missus!"

thats what i took from it too n00dles xx
I agree with snapdarlich. It is because Steve Keeps repeating this phrase at any opertunity. Putting it on a t-shirt will say it for him.:-D
Yeah that was what I thought they meant
