Anyone know any really good films that very few hear about (not cult). I have recently seen 'The Runaway Jury' and to be honest it's the best film I've seen in ages.

i agree with Lemarchand hotel rwanda is a great film. if you dont mind subtiles Maria full of grace is good.

Natlie, 'The War Zone' is a great and very disturbing film. Good to see someone else appreciate it.

  • The Ninth Gate

  • Snow Walker (on Sky a lot and a great film)

  • Delicatessen (or any film by Jeunet - Amelie, City of Lost Children, A Very Long Engagement etc)

  • Battle Royale

  • The Emerald Forest

KM, there was a part in the film that I did find very difficult to watch, but I am glad I have seen the film now, it's a shame it doesn't receive a lot of recognition.

Once Were Warriors is also an excellent film, though I think it is pretty well known.

I wanted to put Hotel Rwanda on my list too but thought it would make it too long!

Wow, Thanks all, that should keep me going for a couple of weeks.

Any quick synopsis for a couple, The Brave and the Joy Luck Club??

If you don't mind subtitles City of God os a must see.
Johnny Depp plays a native American India in The Brave. His character given the opportunity of saving his entire village and ensuring that wife and two young children will live comfortably for the rest of their lives, but in order for that to happen he has to take part in a snuff movie. Beautiful and tragic film. You really have to see it :-)
21 grams is brilliant

Thanks natalie, that should cheer me up then!

Saw '21 Grams' recently, reminded me of the later 'CRASH', it was my second attempt at watching it (after I found out what 21 Grams was) and I really enjoyed it.

A Simple Plan is a really good movie, dont know if anyone has heard of it, also all you movie fans out there have you bookmarked www.imdb.com its a must for all movie fans every movie on there and every one who has appeared in them. another good film thats not that well known i think, is a comedy called nothing to lose

City of God is amazing so is 21 Grams. If we're talking foriegn films La Haine is a quality Fench film. Try Chopper - I bought that purely cos it was cheap but its actually a fantastic film and Eric Bana gives his best performance to date.

A Simple Plan is great, as is Battle Royale.

My all-time fave is Swingers. Never met too many people who have heard of it, but I've lost count how many times I've watched it. Had to bu it on DVD recently as I'd worn out my VHS copy.

The Joy Luck Club follows the stories of a group of Chinese women who have emigrated to America, contrasting their experiences with those of their daughters.

It's all tied together by the quest of one of the daughters to find relatives of hers (her half sisters?) who were left behind when her mother left China.

The only film I've seen move my dad to tears!

has anyone seen the film - blow? great film....cried alot at the end!!!

agreed, War Zone is a fanatastic film. Freeze Frame was excellent.

Avoid A History Of Violence....it was pants!

Shortylilly - I've seen Blow, yet another fantastic performance by Johnny! The dvd is well worth buying for the extras, there are interviews of George Jung and his opinion of the movie and Depp's portrayal of him. Top class film!
