What is the proper name for baby mice?

And believe it or not, baby rats are called kittens! Go figure.

I'd heard baby rats are called pups (Oxford Dictionary). I've heard baby hamsters and baby rabbits are called kittens. I know - senseless!!

Baby mice and rats are called pups, kittens or pinkies by breeders. The ones I know that breed both, tend to call the mice 'pups' and the rats 'kittens' simply by preference or as a convenient way to differentiate between the two.
