How do I connect these three? I thought I'd done it correctly but the set top box won't work. The green light is on but I can't get it to respond.

If it is a terrestial digital set top and not satellite and you want to record from the set top then your arial cable should go to the set top first then from that to the vcr and then from that to the TV, the video/sound outputs from the set top should go to the line input to the vcr.

Oh and don't forget that the vcr will not be set to a channel number when using the set top but to the line input which is usually shown as LI
