My husband was eyeing up this corkscrew on a gadget show last week, does anyone have any experience of them before we waste 30? Thanks.

If you need to open a lot of bottles in a hurry then it is worthwhile. We use a similar one at our wine tasting club. They are not foolproof tho', one cork had its middle pulled out at Saturdays tasting.

We have a bottle everynight at home and over the years I've gone through a whole load of corkscrews.

The standard screwpull is good, but doesn't last long, and I now use a dual lever Waiters' Friend type of corkscrew. It is inexpensive, simple, easy to use, takes up little room and fits in a pocket.

Look for a teflon coated screw - i.e. black, not bare metal and a wide spiral.
