Horror movie/tv episode?

I saw this horror film/tv show once where this woman is at the kitchen table and serves a boy a bowl of soup or something like that. I think the boy was presumed dead, possibly in a drowning accident (which you see in flashback form...underwater photography and everything). Anyway, for some reason, the boy flips out, knocking the bowl off of the table and enough for the woman (his mum I think) to run and hide in the basement of the house. So she's hiding in the basement and she can here the boy calling to her. Then the boy says something like "Bobby didn't want you anymore, mommy...so he sent ME instead". Then this weird thing descends the stairs like a demented sharp toothed clown or fuzzy monster. That's all I saw cos it freaked me out! This was shown on TV between 1981 and 1985. I never knew what it was called. I've tried to track it but there are so many films with horrific climaxes in basements.

Anyone know this movie/program?

That sounds like Stephen King's 'It'...with Pennywise the clown! Go onto www.imdb.com and type it in...see if it rings any bells?

I very much doubt it's "IT" as that was made in 1990. I dont know the film you're talking about though, sorry
Oh crikey ~ I remember this scene too, but for the life of me can't recall the movie/programme title! I do know that it gave me nightmares for weeks..& probably will from now on thanks to you ;o)

Yeah, the scene scared me so much that I cried and the TV had to be switched off. Shocking!

Yes, it's definately not IT. It could have been one of those Murder,Mystery,Supense TV movies. I reckon it was shown about 1983.

Jollops ~ I keep thinking it may be a Tales from The Crypt/Twilight Zone/Outer Limits type thing? to be honest I only remember seeing that final scene, not the rest of the movie..maybe cos it was so horrific!

Every time I have mentioned this movie to people I have been met with blank looks, so it is good to know I didn't imagine it all.

I often wonder if it would have the same effect on me now I am older & slightly jaded? inn the meantime I shall carry on searching.

Oh my god...I FOUND IT! It's from the movie Dead Of Night (1977).

It's the segment entitled "Bobby" by Richard Matheson.

Co-incidentally, it was remade in 1996 for a segment of Trilogy of Terror 2.

But it was definately the former that I saw. Check out the video cover. I think that's the demon Bobby that comes down the stairs. Okay, it's not a clown but I was hiding behind my fingers and saw it very briefly. I'll have to check out the new version too.

Phew, well done! yep, I was sure it was the demon Bobby coming down the stairs too (eeeek).

let me summon up some strength to have a look, lol.

Hmmmm not as bad as I originally thought, but I remember him coming out of the darkness down the stairs which was scarier than just looking at the pic.

Scared the bejesus out of me!

I read a couple of reviews and apparently, this movie is still shat yer pants scary! It's available from moviesunlimited.com for about $20.00.

I've gotta see it. Like you, nobody I ever mentioned that scene to ever knew what I was on about. I even asked "experts" on proper horror sites.

I don't know, that demon Bobby face is still pretty scary...especially when you're not expecting to see something that shocking to come down the stairs. Creepy makeup...especially for a 70's film. The kid looks like some kind of Mr. Barlow wannabe! I think when I watch it I will be bracing myself for that moment...AAAAARRRRRRGGGHHH!!

Oh yeah ~ definately gotta see it again! & yes, Bobby & Mr Barlow in the same room..blimey, that'll scare your pants off make no mistake. The video cover didn't scare me as much as I thought it was going to, but as I said before in the movie he comes out of darkness (slowly as I recall) & it's something you aren't expecting ~ rather like Salems Lot!

Don't think I am gonna sleep tonight.

I don't know if you've seen a Sarah Jessica Parker movie called Girls Just Want To Have Fun, but the romantic lead guy in that movie (Jeff Malene) is played by the same guy (Lee Montgomery) who plays Bobby!

Blimey!

Blimey indeed..I haven't seen the film but will check it out right after I have seen demon Bobby again!
