when i use sky tv to look for programmes it says 'searching for listings, please wait' so i wait and wait but nothing happens. a sky engineer says it may be that the dish is faulty and would charge 65 call out or get me sky+ for 200! is there anything i can do to fix it myself? (have removed card, switched off etc).

thanks

I also get this all the time. I thought it was due to my old panasonic digibox, but as I live abroad it's not so easy to get a new one and then a new contract.
We also get this with our Sky Plus box. Rather than just switch the box off on the actual machine we find it necessary to switch off at the plug, leave for a few seconds, switch on, and let it re-boot itself. Worth a try anyway.

It's impossible to reboot mine, I have to wait about 3 hours for it to right itself. It's a beggar.

We have had this problem for about 10 days now.

Tried the usual re-booting etc but no good.

I phoned SKY a couple of days ago and they told me that it is a problem which viewers who have Panasonic boxes are having at the moment. Apparantly they are working on it.

It is annoying though.

Is it all to do with this new TV Guide that they are instlaling, do you think?
I would also try pulling the plug leaving it for a couple of minutes then plug it back in. If you cannot gat anything that helps i would phone sky and tell them your cancelling your presciption they will ask if there is anything they could do to make you keep it thats when you tell them of the trouble your having and that your not willing to pay for it. If they dont offer you that then you can re-subscibe after a few days which means you would get a new box but i think they will fix it rather than take the risk of loosing a customer. Good Luck stick to your guns!
