... quite enjoying it.  And then I discovered I've started on series 4.  And there's me thinking vague references to things seemingly unrelated would be explained somewhere along the line.  Each series appears to be a new story though so I'll carry on and go to series 1 when I've finished this.

Have you ever watched something the wrong way around?

Yes, I recently watched the last series of The Chelsea Detective than watched from the beginning.

I usually read books in random order but I still enjoy them

Can't recall what the film was, Naomi, but i once went to the local fleapit, paid my entry fee and was allowed into the auditorium where i watched the back-end of a film.

It was only later i realised that it was the back-end of the feature flm i had come to see and that was the 'first showing'. By rights, i oughtn't to have been allowed in until it had finished.

Did it spoil it for you?  I think this one will be fine.

Sorry, that^ was to Barry.

Ken, oh how annoying!  That's awful!!!

No, Naomi, but it's not a complex seriesm

Question Author

Ken, I know you and I often have a similar taste in series.  This is called The Sinner - on Netflix.  Have you seen it?

The problem with reading books in the wrong order is that there is sometimes a theme running through them.

I have read all 7 of The Dark Tower books by Stephen King in the order they were written and printed, and over a period of about 25 years - that's how long it took SK to write the series, for various reasons.

However, he decided to write another which fit in between books 4 and 5 and i steadfastly refuse to buy it, even though it is supposedly a stand-alone novel.

I'm currently reading the Grace series and there is a running background theme but it all makes sense in the end.

Yes i have watched them all, Naomi. Quite good, they are, and Bill Pullman plays his part well. It was only meant to be an 8-part miniseries but the first one (and best one, imho) did so well with viewing figures that it turned into a 4 season series.

I wouldn't read books out of order.  Harry Potter would be like Benjamin Button!  😂

Question Author

I've only watched the first of series 4, Ken.  I was scratching around for something decent to watch and I really think this fits the bill.

Barry, have you read They Thought I Was Dead, which is all about Grace's missing wife? Although it came out last year, i only recently discovered it. Quite a good read.

For some unfathomable reason, i missed the first series of Gold. So when series 2 came out, i had to watch the first series and i'm glad i did. Both 1 & 2 were well told and well acted.

Currently nearing the end of season 2 of Scrublands - just the one episode to go.

Question Author

I haven't seen that, Ken.  I'll try to remember it for next time.

One of the Aussie series, Naomi. Do watch them in order, though, as there are lots of references to series 1 in series 2 😉

Question Author

Is it on Netflix?

Ok, thanks Ken.

Ken, yes I read that recently. It is a good read for Grace fans.

We've just watched the final episode of 'Sara, woman of the shadows' an Italian boring fiasco on Netflix in 6 episodes.

How I endured it I don't know, no idea what it was about, I lost the will to watch (& almost to live!) Is this what the beginning of dementia is like I ask myself ?
