Netflix will, in my opinion, need to go a very long way to beat the BBC's production with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle in the lead roles - that version was like Mary Poppins - practically perfect in every way - but I'll watch anyway.

it all makes work for the working actor to do...

I believe some of Shakespeare's plays are being re-hashed with different actors. 🙄

Why do they have to keep doing remakes of iconic series? There must be millions who haven't seen the original series, why not just bring that back to the fore? Sacrilege coming - I didn't like the BBC version as I didn't find either of the leads attractive so couldn't relate to their chemistry. Totally for the non purists I'm sure but the Keira Knightley film version is my favourite and I watch it regularly - because both she and Mr Darcy (Matthew thingamy) are gorgeous as is Jane and all of the rest of the cast were superb (perhaps not Donald Sutherland, miscasting there).

I didn't like that version very much at all, Prudie.  I felt the BBC version stuck more strictly to the original story.

I too have a soft spot for the knightley version and watch it a lot.
I do like the BBC version but find it overly long.

if making Fitzwilliam Darcy ginger is all the messing with it Netflix will do, it probably won't be all that bad. there's so much they could have done to make it more "relevant" to today's audience..... like making Mr Darcy, Ms Billie Darcy, transgender lesbian......
