Michael Sheen's secret million pound giveaway is on C4 on Monday at 9pm. Where as I applaud the sentiment there are more needy places than people who spend money they don't have on things they don't need and then end up in debt up to their eyeballs. I have never seen a case that was not avoidable. So great Michael, very generous but give it to the real needy not the feckless sans arithmetic.

Private landlords of bedsitters were a law unto themselves thirty odd years ago, TTT.  They only had to say they needed the room for a relative and you were out.

"When you are living payday to payday it doesn't take much to derail your life.  Not everyone has family to bail them out." - so you live within your means. Ok some debt is innevitable but you don't borrow for what you don't need and you don't buy what you don't need. Eg cigarettes, alcohol, takeaways etc

08:44 so have we fallen through a time well or something? This is now, it takes at least 6 months to get someone out now.

You assumptions and preconceptions are deeply welded in to your psyche, TTT.  Not everyone in debt has been living the high life on a pauper's income.  When you can just about afford the essentials, a hiccup is an earthquake.

Is it only in Wales?Whats the matter with the rest of the country?Does he think only Welsh people have debts?

Lodgers only need to be given notice equal to one payment period, TTT, or four weeks written notice. That's the current law.

-- answer removed --

I know the law about lodgers, TTT.

It can say what it likes in reality the "law" takes at least 6 months to get someone out. Notice, contracts all irrelevant to the actual vacation of the property.

Yes, as TTT says whilst the law may say one thing the reality is somewhat different.  I have a couple of mates in the  HMO business and it really is not that easy to remove them.  Often the Courts have to be involved whith the usual expense.

Whilst you may know the law you certainly dont know the reality.

a lodger aint a tenant - just sayin'...
