Jeremy Paxman is stepping down as host of University Challenge after 28 years .Any thoughts on who might replace him?

Boris Johnson is looking for another job.....
It's a shame but I did think he was struggling in the last series.
it's about time. I actually like him as a host, but he was clearly struggling health-wise at the end of last series (well, all through the series really)
Stephen Fry or Victoria Coren-Mitchell.
Jeez, I still think of Paxo as being the 'new' guy on UC. I think Nick Robinson would make a good presenter.
Just heard the news, myself, and, off the top of my head, i can't think of a suitable replacement. Paxman will be missed, that's for sure, and his are a big pair of shoes to fill.
Fatti, as much as i love Victoria, i wouldn't like to see her presenting UC. She's great at what she does on Only Connect, but i'm not sure she'd be as suited to UC.

It needs someone with gravitas who is going to take it seriously and just get on with it. I really can't think of anyone.
Someone female and not so pale may be working their way to the front right now.
That is a shame but yes he was struggling a bit last series. Please don't replace him with a dumbed down version (and god forbid it's Victoria CM). It needs someone firm and clever.
A bit random, how about Sally Magnusson?

Me too!

When Roger Tilling says "Asking the questions ..." I still think he will say "Bamber Gascoigne ...", but sadly, he never does.

I like Paxo, he clearly likes students, but he is still hard-wired not to suffer fools gladly, students or not!

Funnily enough, someone sent me a link this morning to a YouTube of one of the 15-to-Ones I was on - William G. certainly didn't take any nonsense from anybody! Shame he's unavailable.
Why does it need to be someone famous? I'm sure there weren't many people outside academia who had heard of Bamber Gascoigne before he took the post.
what about that newsreader grey hair, itv, whose name ive temporarily forgotten. He presented survival
My son was on UC, and Jeremy Paxman was an absolute gentleman to them all.

I would say Clive Myrie, but he got the other gig.
Jack Dee would do a good job of looking disgusted at wrong answers.
They could make it Clive Anderson, Michael McIntyre, James Nesbitt, Miranda Hart, Michael Barrymore, Ann Robinson, any of those would give me half an hour a week back!!!

Oops, nearly forgot Gloria Hunniford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps Jon Sopel.

You don’t think she has the pedigree??
