I was watching Columbo last night and the guest star was Billy Connolly. I thought the name somewhat familiar, I then realized that he is a well known British comedian who I have heard mentioned of on this site Anyway, he played a very good role as a murderous music conductor and he also managed to get a few humerus lines in.

he is a very good actor, Mrs Brown with Judi Dench and Billy Connolly comes to mind. About the relationship between Queen Victoria and John Brown, fine film, if you haven't seen it you should look it up.
I hope that you don't suffer from DWS, Sanmac ;-)

That should of course be 'humorous'.
I thought that you were giving us the elbow, Sanmac ;-)

I've read on this site, Buenchico, that a lot of people find him quite crude and vulgar.

0038...:)
He often was crude and vulgar - that was hid MO

But he is hilarious :-)
Had a lot of time for him till the crass Ken Bigley comment. Plummeted to the depths then and his name isn’t mentioned in our house now for fear of my anger.
Dare I ask what he said gness??
Google Connolly and Ken Bigley, Smow.
I've never been a fan of Billy Connolly, he's too crude for my liking, but what he said about Ken Bigley was terrible.
Just seen gness - god how tasteless of him!!
No time for him since that day, ladies. Ken’s family were aware of what Connolly said. Imagine how they felt when they were hoping and praying for Ken to live and not be beheaded and Connolly used that in his act for laughs.
Have to agree with you gness - pretty sick of him!
I used to quite like him until Ken Bigley, I went off him very rapidly after that.

I must admit that I really had to strain at times to understand that thick Yorkshire accent of his.
I don't know who'd be the most offended by that Sanmac. A Yorkshireman or a Scot?
;-)
LOL, thank gawd he ain't a brummy ( or much worse a Black Country mon ).
Question Author
Just joshin', Buenchico, I knew he was was speaking Scotch:) He also drank a few glasses of Scotch whiskey in the movie. Now somehow, I think there's a mistake in the last sentence:)
you don't speak Scotch, that is something you drink, he speaks English with a Glaswegian (Scottish) accent.
