Is Jeremy Clarkson really as lacking in General Knowledge as he makes out.Christine Ohorugu asked him what a “Ruby” was.He said correctly it was Ruby Murray which rhymes with curry but I have no idea who Ruby Murray was you’ll have to Google it.

I love JC. I haven’t watched that episode of Millionaire yet, but I’m surprised Christine didn’t know that answer, as she comes from London.
Now you don't even have to Google it ...

I knew who Ruby was.I know he doesn’t need to know but these are things people just know.
I think I've misread your OP.
It's not general knowledge to me till I read the link
Until reading Grumpy's link, I've always assumed that Ruby Murray was an American film star, possibly from the 1940s. I certainly wouldn't consider recognising her real claim to fame to be 'general knowledge'.

I've just listened to several of her recordings on YouTube, intending to embed one of the videos here. However they're all such appalling tosh that I simply can't bring myself to do it!

Yes but remember those songs were from the 1950’s.
Compared to Adele I'll listen to Ruby Murray every time.

Also now JC hosts the show and they have ask the host.I admit that you would need an egghead to answer some but some of the other questions well I’m surprised.
Doesn't everyone know what a 'Ruby' is?

Well said bhg and also some of the other female singers of that era.
I don’t know of the singer Ruby Murray, but I’m married to a Londoner and I’m still learning the slang after 25 years. I do know it’s curry, though.

My favourite is saucepan.
I thought Ruby Murray was Irish and yes a Ruby is a Curry, I knew that too
/// Ruby Florence Murray (29 March 1935 – 17 December 1996) was a Northern Irish singer and actress. One of the most popular singers in the British Isles in the 1950s, she scored ten hits in the UK Singles Chart between 1954 and 1959.//
Actually what I was thinking of was this,
https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/3/ruby/
but when I searched for it the French car came up which I didn't know about.

In the 1950s you could buy an Austin 7 Ruby for £5.

Nothing at all to do with a singer, Clarkson is a petrolhead
I saw Ruby Murray in Malta in the 50's when she was part of a group of who were entertaining the troops.
> Until reading Grumpy's link

I wasn't grumpy until you got my name wrong ...
^^^ Sorry, Ellipsis. (As you no doubt know, I am a bear of very little brain).
