Has anyone watched this new series on ITV. Believe there are four episodes based on the Ann Cleeves book. Am watching Shetland, but enjoy a good binge watch too.

Yes - an excellent watch - tangled and keeps you interested throughout.
None too keen on the acting but the story is intriguing enough to stay with it. Watched 3 so far and will watch the last just to see the conclusion.
Gave up after second episode. Found it dull and confusing.
I did flag this up about 10 days ago - but nobody appeared interested.
I had read the book a few weeks before the TV mini-series was aired...it's always interesting to see any differences.
A worthwhile watch in my opinion.
I enjoyed this, a good entertaining watch.

Thanks folks, that's my afternoon binge watch shorted!
Question Author
"sorted" duh
Rubbish....absolute rubbish.

We had to watch scenes with the gay SIO kissing and cuddling with his gay partner, arresting suspects left right and centre and then releasing them and his miserable face throughout the episodes.

Characters coming in and out, difficult to remember who was who and |I had forgotten who was murdered..

Good cast but poorly written and produced.

Must do better.

Agree with sqad - gave it half an hour then switched off.

Ah well, one man's meat............
That may be what Sqad was referring to, Maggie.
It was filmed in and around Bideford in North Devon, a town and area I know very well. Watched it all, but whilst the story was reasonable I found the production a bit dire, overlayed with almost continuous dreary music.
Matthew's story was integral to the plot - Grace was portrayed brilliantly by Anita Dobson, she was a star in her own right.
A refreshing change to see the main character not a white, straight male or a black lesbian!
Is it good?
I had this idea of someone speaking into a telephone for 4 h

( you know Ken Dodd - phone my mother in law? I havent spoken to her for six months, I didnt like to interrupt her )
Bideford - - - how did they do the inbred bit?
I was disappointed, very slow and not very convincing two main detectives. He walked around with a permanently puzzled expression on his face. As New Judge says the music was depressing on it's own. Beautiful scenery of course. Anita Dobson was superb. The book was better.
//Bideford - - - how did they do the inbred bit?//

You've obviously not been to Bideford, Peter! :-)
