when on programmes they pretend to knock on a door and the person opens it as though they are surprised but there are obviously cameras already inside. Classic case is Long Lost Families - Davina and Nick go to someone's house as though they have just pulled up outside. We know they do many takes for this sort of thing so why do they keep up the pretence?

Spot on Barry and Dave.
When my father researched his family tree he discovered first cousins married in the early 1600's.
Did I get all emotional?
No!!
But I did understand why I have six fingers instead of five.
Live and learn
the tough ones are the siblings that have been split up at birth or when very little. I would find that emotional, finding i had a sister/brother i didn't know about after many years.
The only ones that get to me are the Mums who were forced to give up their precious babies and yearn to see them again all their lives long, and then along comes Davina and Nicky and they are reunited once again with their long lost 'babies'. I've shed many a tear over those programmes. The others not so much.
I feel the same LOL - if I was reunited with a certain cousin - I would run not a mile but 10 miles LOL.

Yes the poignant ones are the mums being reunited with their children.

Especially if it's their only child and they never had any more.

It's simple dramatic licence, it goes on all the time on television and in film.

When the guy breaks out of prison after being inside for twenty years and can drive a car smoothly as though he drove it this morning.

When people always answer the phone, or the door, they're never on the loo or in the bath.

When people never say Umm, or Err, or What was I saying?

Have you ever seen anyone in a soap cough or sneeze unless its part of the plotline?

As for burping - that simply never happens.

But we accept these things, even though we know they are nonsense, because that's how the medium works.
Long lost family is a 'no no' in our house. Can't stand this type of programme. And especially can't stand Davina, who is just so false. I find the programme completely unemotional.
We had along lost relative track us on Facebook by messenger and foolishly replied and met up. Worse thing we ever did. It took a few years before we made it clear we wanted no further contact and a great deal of tact from us!
