stating the bleedin obvious! The reporter stood outside Wembley this morning said as you can see its a lot quieter this morning than it was last night! Why is she even there - same as the reporter stood outside there late on Thursday night - totally pointless.

Hahahahaha, suppose she must do something to earn her crust but maybe stating the obvious is not a good place to start.
Absolutely. Private Eye used to have a column called 'Going Live' with instances of reporters outside places where nothing at all was happening, and no reason for them to be there.
For example, we see lots of TV reports from outside 10 Downing Street, when they don't have to be there!
a bit like the weather forecasters telling us what it was like yesterday

Oh, you'll get me started on Lucy Verasamy and her annoying windmilling arms!
They don't beat the reporters who interview a publican who's been closed down for getting on two years, and ask, have you found it difficult.
/// a bit like the weather forecasters telling us what it was like yesterday ///

What amuses me about that is they often get it wrong even then, so what chance with the forecast ?

Lucy Verasamy is the one who has to take a breath halfway through sentences.

When its the BBC reporters I object to the money being wasted on people being sent to places when they could easily do the report from a studio. Outside Buckingham Palace at night, or outside hospitals etc and one was even outside the offices of a Union the other week late at night in central London. Its not as though anyone is going to come out and give them an interview is it?

Ah, so it's just another 'Bash The Beeb' thread :-J
I think many broadcasters waste considerable sums sending reporters here there and everywhere for no good reason. Trouble is - with the BBC it's partly MY money!
Ye gods, why doesn't the producer tell her to stop waving her arms about?! And she can't see the map we see - she has to look at the monitor to the side, so her gesticulations are only ever going to be approximate.
I am all for being happy but what gets me is the i know everything smirk on some people faces on TV.
I like to see reporters out and about.

Of this is all we have to get worked up about …
I love to see hats blown off and brollies flipped inside out whilst they wade through knee deep water, brings a touch of realism :-)
Quite!
Yes, fame at last.
yes, just stay quietly in the studio, less visually exciting but much cheaper
