Saw a film many years ago and I always think it's 'Fried green tomatoes' but (once again) having watched that on TV last night, it isn't! Driving me mad.
Not much to go on, but basically, the plot involves a reunion of a bunch of friends in the cafe they used as youngsters. Not sure if the reunion was predetermined (i.e. let's all meet up in 20 year's time) or by a current day ad-hoc invitation.
To me it has the same feel as FGT inasmuchas the story is told by period flashbacks of the friends and their inter-relationships. Obviously, each person has changed appearance over the years but slowly each member is identified - except one. The twist is, that last friend is now living as a member of the opposite sex they were when the group were originally together.
Must have been a good film - left an impression on me...

Toorak - good guess, but there were definitely women involved and don't remember much back story other than relationships. But that's just my brain after a lot of years!
is it "come back to the five and dime jimmy dean" ?

Bunkmoreland & chelle7272 - bang on!
I now see how I got it mixed with 'Fried green tomatoes' as Kathy Bates is in both. Thank you so much for setting my brain straight and establishing that I didn't imagine it...
