Thank you Neveracrossword
38 GOGO def 'peart'.
35 yes - 'gagne' is 'won' (French).
38 A (Latin abbrev. for 'after') + anag ('ground') of OGG - b]OGG[y 'stripping'.
I have a full grid and the 2 phrases but can't see which 24 cells to highlight ?
35 - the 'r' is dropped from '(r)ING' after GAGNE (reversed).

The 24 letters don't make words - they are individual...
i don't see the 24 cells either.... another hint perhaps please
If you split the grid horizontally - look across the first 6 rows moving in zigzags. Then do the same with the second 6 rows (and look again at a particular word in the last sentence of the preamble).
