My opinion of Jay Blades has been recorded on here several times. However, credit where it’s due,he did make a good job of
re-upholstering the chair brought in by the twin sisters.

What he actually did some work all by himself????
I love this programme. It brings a smile to my face every time.
I think Jay is a proper, sound bloke. Genuinely nice
You should watch Money For Nothing...he does some lovely stuff on there.
After dozens of shows, he actually did something!
Was it a repeat? Did the fabric a big bee?
"Saaarrrnd" - love the show and admire every single one of the repairers, Doms enthusiasm blows me away. Unfortunately Mr Blades does nothing for me, don't honestly see the point of him, I expect if he left the true experts would do the job fine. Yes, Ive seen him on 'Money For Nothing' presenting and doing his occasional 'painting of a chair leg a different colour' signature item, but no I'm glad he only appears infrequently because he ruins the best programme on the BBC.
But he's not in Bluebloods?
I agree. He spoils the programme. The rest are genuine craftspeople who do a wonderful job. I've only seen Blades do one. The programme would be better without him.
I know for a fact that the production team particularly wanted Jay in that role - he was invited. He was the only member of the team with any real tv experience (Will had been on a couple of shows) and they knew he would be comfortable in front of the camera and with both the artisans and the public.
Thanks Barry. I didn't know that.
I like Jay, he holds the programme together and he does more than paint a chair leg. On Repair Shop he's not there to do the restoration, if he did one or two of the others would be out of a job.
roo, he spends a lot of time with the people who come on to the show with their items, off camera putting them at their ease.
If you look him up, you'll learn that he currently runs a business restoring 20thc furniture. He also ran a charity teaching kids furniture restoration.
He orders in any materials needed, sends things off for sandblasting, engraving etc, he's the anchor and he's very good at it.
Loved the Penlee Lifeboat collection box last night, just a shame that the restorers weren't there at the reveal ...
No he doesn't, Mamya. The show's runners do that if the experts don't use their own suppliers :D
Regardless, I thinks he's a good anchor and is a warm endearing personality.
