I used to have one in the olden days it had a slide in 'casket' for 6 CDs. You could programme the running order. It broke ages ago. Marantz I think. I miss it.

Have seen dinky little juke boxes and huge ones with lights and all 50s retro style but I just want a black or silver box type!

Have looked in vain on Amazon.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

If you're happy with MP3 quality, rather than full CD quality, you could get a CD player which will play MP3s and make up your own compilations by ripping your CDs. You can get lots of tracks on a CD in MP3 format - my car CD player has a limit of 255.
Do you want a stand alone player that has it own speakers etc built in?
The only multi change cd players that I have seen are either for a car or a hi-fi seperate.
If you've got very deep pockets, there's always Bose.

However, as Alavahalf indicates, CDs been seen as 'old technology' for around a couple of decades. Car radios, for example, no longer come with CD players built into them and most hi-fi systems don't have CD players either. So you're probably going to have to buy a second hand unit on eBay or similar.

The way forward these days is to rip your old CDs to MP3 format (or to AAC if you want to retain the highest quality) and play them on your PC or laptop (connected to your hi-fi system) using a decent media player (which, in my opinion, definitely rules out Window Media Player). Any of these would do

enabling to create your own playlists from your library of music files.

I have to admit to still liking CDs myself though. When I bought my all-singing, all-dancing internet radio last year, I made sure that I chose a model which still incorporated a CD player ;-)
Like Chris, I still like CDs and was annoyed to find that my new car's "infotainment" system did everything except play CDs.
However, looking through the handbook I found that opening the glovebox revealed a slot which plays them and a button which ejects them.
Crikey, what car is that? Never knew of a glovebox cd player
Oh ginge - REAL men don't admit to reading the handbook.
It's a SEAT...and without actually reading the handbook, you would never know there was one there. The CD slot it right at the top.
Not very convenient for the driver. Maybe that's the point, stops the driver trying to change the CD whilst driving
...but all the info is displayed, and the thing is controlled, by the central infotainment screen.

Thank you everybody.

The trouble is I am lazy and just want to shove a couple of CDs in a player and let it chug along. Sound quality is immaterial to me. I can't be bothered 'ripping' and MP3 sound sticks etc. Besides I have thousands of CDs some quite rare. The idea of second hand had just not occurred to me so that is one valuable avenue (there is a second hand HiFi shop junkyard near me so can check that after Covid lockdown. The BOSE I need to check that out after fainting from the price! Thank again.
What about that Bose on eBay I linked to?

ginge, you may be able to control the CD from the info screen but who wants to listen to the same one on a long journey?
Forget my eBay link - the thing needs a laser. This one somehow holds 301 CDs https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/pioneer-multi-cd-player-pd-F1009/164789132803?hash=item265e329e03:g:2sEAAOSwUiRgY4-r
barry..."long journey"...what's that?
On any long journey that may happen (hopefully soon) I'll always be accompanied...I never used to change CDs myself while driving, even with a normally-placed player.
