have to say I agree with this teacher regarding pupils looking like prostitutes, Kardashian clones and spending more money on prom than they could afford, as well as awful fake tans, being shoehorned into dresses and so on.
Having read down though, he criticized his boss and I reckon that's what done for him!
School children in my local area look awful - yours?

All his child related comments are correct, many of our school age kids are sheep as far as all the influencers are concerned and finish up looking awful. Maybe his boss comments are correct but he should have done it face to face with a union rep if he had serious concerns.
Painted on eyebrows are very common on the school girls who come in our store and some of the eyelashes look like something from a joke shop. Not sure how there parent's can send them out like that or maybe they feel there kids need to fit in. But maybe the schoolgirls laugh at my wrinkled face and 1980s hairstyle and clothes

perhaps it's just a function of being old that school children look awful?
Oh dear. I must be awful...his comments made me laugh.
And remember my daughter's dress and makeup sense at that age.
I agree with his comments but not his tone. Mocking his pupils is not on - he should have kept his opinions off the internet
The hearing in Cardiff was told he can reapply to join the register after a two-year period.
he's bang on, what is all this "prom" t1sh anyway? more quasi American she-ite, see if they remember their "prom" and fake tans when they are flipping burgers in a greasy maccy d's. He's right that they care more about dressing up that passing their exams. You can give the guy an OBE if you ask me.
//Chairman Steve Powell said the comments "were critical, they were disrespectful, they were likely to cause offence to any pupil or parent who came across the article".// - really? well any parent who condones this cobras is showing themselves and their own saucepans zero "respect" - rant over

Context is everything. A random person saying this would be -- well, arguable, but clearly within their rights. A teacher saying it about his own pupils is not.

i wonder after the two year ban if he will reapply to go back to teaching, if i was him i would find a different line of work.
frankly I'm amazed they can get teachers at all.
Would the decision to ban the teacher have been different had it been a female teacher ?
....or a TG one?
TTT ...do you think you can keep your anti American rants to yourself for once.
I may not have lived there for 30 years, but your remarks are pretty grating sometimes.
Sorry for going off track bednobs.
Who knows, anne, perhaps a woman would have been regarded as an expert in eyebrows and makeup and her comments seen as valid critique of the zombified clones displaying their butt cheeks, not in an overtly sexual way of course, that's all in the minds of filthy men.
pasta: "TTT ...do you think you can keep your anti American rants to yourself for once. " - it's not an anti American rant it's more like exasperation at our own side blindly impersonating them. Apologies if it came over that way, it was not my intention.
I used to have a chuckle when bare midriffs were the thing. The girld would be standing at the bus stop in hat, scarf and gloves with their stomach on show. Crazy
Proms have been here for years. My own daughter was late for hers 17 years ago...missed the limo a group of them hired as she was too busy getting her makeup right...and fake tan too, I suspect. ;)
Oh...and she's never tossed burgers. Got a PhD instead. I'll have to ask her if she remembers her prom.
Sorry...apology accepted.
Back in the 60s my gran used to laugh at the girls in their mini skirts in the middle of winter, with legs either blue or purple with the cold.

My dad hated my flared jeans, cheesecloth shirts and hippy beads. His dad hated the Oxford bags that my dad wore when he were a lad.

When I was a kid the only people I saw with blue or pink hair were little (or big) old ladies.
Speaking as a retired teacher, I'm amazed that a serving teacher in this day and age has not yet realised that comments about his students on any form of social media is a complete no-no.
