the man is already a legend in my mind but did you know he mostly does not use a plectrum? His thumb must be made of steel! I'm on plus 1 so they are just starting, in my opinion their best song, the Tunnel of love, thought Sultans of Swing has to be no 1.5. Yes ladies I have had a sherbet!

Tunnel of Love's a great tune, but Portobello Belle, Where Do You Think You're Going and Romeo and Juliet are probably my favourites. Definitely preferred them before Brothers In Arms came out (although Why Worry is another classic)

Actually, getting back to the thread, Dire Straits at Sheffield Arena was THE worst concert I’ve ever seen. The sound was Dire (pun intended), the lighting was poop and the atmosphere, consequently, was.....meh. They’re still one of my favourite bands tho.

they are doing "solid rock" now !

A bit ‘popie’ for me that one.
Just stop retaliating, enjoy your concert.

I would imagine that many an Allied and German soldier might have become quite emotional and perhaps shed a few tears whilst listening to a rendition of "Lili Marlene" during WW2.

... never done it can't start now.
I've always held the belief that Mark Knopfler never uses a plectrum. He just has to be the best finger plucker in the business.

he's just started the first bars of local hero.... roy don't even try to comprehend you brain cell will never cope.
your?
Again, a bit commercial for me. Not really sure why they became involved in the film (a lull in sales?).
:-)

Watched it right through, it was brilliant, they knew how to make music in 1983, nothing today compares.
You can't beat Whay Aye Man off the album the The Ragpickers Dream

They didn't Zacs, it was a Knopfler solo project. He scored the entire movie.
Bobbs, Whay Aye Man was the theme to the Auf Wiedersehen Pet return from the early 2000s wasn't it?
I love Dire Straits, Mark is one of my favourite guitarists.
Check this out, brilliant.
