A couple of weeks ago a boar came routing around just outside our patio.
It was gathering mouthfuls of grass and taking it into the undergrowth. It did this for a couple of days then vanished. It was obviously nesting.
Today it appeared with four little humbugs. They are adorable. They stayed for about 15 minutes then were sent back to the bed!

What a privileged sighting Caran, lucky you.
How lovely is that. You’re very lucky Caran.
They're lovely creatures:

Oh dear! My answer is less romantic, having suffered from the depredations of wild boar in France! The back 'garden/lawn' resembled the Somme trenches and a sow, with stripey babies at heel, stood stoically whilst I yelled and waved lights and them. I eventually contacted the local 'chausseurs' who sent dogs around and drew nothing. They had moved on. They can travel 30 km per night apparently. Phew!

Seriously, they can be very, very bad news and kill at least one person every year in France. Sorry to cast a damper. :(

We have had boars around here for years. Yes they do a lot of damage and we have usually managed to chase them away. But not in this instance, not with four babies.
I did manage to take a photo but cannot remember how to load it on here.
To show us a photo, upload it to here:

Place your cursor in the box at the bottom and click 'Copy'.

Come to an AB thread, right-click and select 'Paste', preferably putting the link on a line by itself.
In the New forest they let domestic pigs out to eat the acorns. People are warned to stay well clear. years ago when we first moved here a jogger accidentally got between the sow and her piglings and she chased him and bit a hole in his calf. I don't mind horses donkeys and cows but pigs I will not go near.
They make lovely sausages.

I hope this works!

That's not very good. OH has just sent me an email with a better one than that. I don't think that method would work with an email would it?
It works just fine, Caran ;-)

A hint for anyone viewing it though: Most browsers squeeze the whole image into a window. If you click on the image though, it will enlarge it to full size, so that you can see Billy Boar better ;-)
Save the image from your email onto your hard drive first, Caran, and then upload it in the same way.
Here's a cropped version of your pic: https://ibb.co/vDXTGRQ
I like the Toby jug on the windowsill.

Well done Chris, i just couldn't do it.
I’m sorry, I’m not fussed about any damage they do - they are so cute (I’d be investigating ‘what food do wild boars like’).
Sister has a holiday cottage in France right on the edge of a forest where they hunt them, and whenever they go after not being there for a while they have to 'tidy up' where the wild boar have been rooting round the outside areas. The locals warned them when they moved in not to interfere with them as they can be quite vicious.
People feeding them has caused problems, Sherr:

Ok, not likely to see any here but I promise not to feed them if I do.
