I recently brushed the dust off the old Amstrad CPC 6128 and Spectrum +3 computers and made sure that they were still working. This trip down memory lane reminded me of Micro Men, a one-off TV "comic drama" about the rivalry between Clive Sinclair and the Acorn Computer team:

I could remember that Martin Freeman played Chris Curry, leader of the Acorn team, but was amused to find that Alexander Armstrong (yes, he of Pointless) played Clive Sinclair. I don't think I was aware of AA at the time, and, he is well disguised, as CS, as can be seen at the above link. I managed to find the DVD I had burned with my recording of the programme, but unfortunately it won't play :-( However all is not lost because it is available on YouTube:

Anyone else remember this?

Hi Etch. I remember the rivalry, but not the tv programme I'm afraid.

Although I loved the ZX81 and the Spectrum, I'll always remember the CPC6128 since it had a 3" disk drive up one end instead of the old cassette fiddle. :o)

Currently owned by Japanese investment company Softbank but has agreed to sell it to American high-end graphics card maker nVidia.

The Builder - my first home computer was also a ZX81; I upgraded to the CPC 6218 later. At the time I never had a Spectrum - the +3, and a 48K (with the rubber keyboard), were given to me much later by someone at work. The +3 was produced after Amstrad had taken over the Sinclair computer line and has the same disk drive as the 6128. My Amstrad PCW 8256 (same disk drive again) is still up in the loft - as you can see, I have quite a collection now!
