Channel 5 promos proclaiming Home Alone as “the greatest Christmas movie ever made”. Do you agree and, if not, what would be your choice?

It's a Wonderful Life and Love Actually - although I wish they hadn't included the porn actors' story in Love Actually. It's a great film that leaves everyone smiling but those scenes make it unsuitable for children.

love actually, actually
mind you i have never seen home alone or lots of other xmas films
I enjoyed it a lot more than It's A Wonderful Life. But Gremlins probably.
Love Actually.
Can wait til later in the week, the annual showing with a bottle of Prosecco.
Wonderful Life
That really is a stretch to be honest.

Apart from the fact that the film is set at Christmas, it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Christmas in any way shape or form.

My choice would be It's A Wonderful Life - because it is essentially bound up with the spirit of optimism and hope than Christmas stands for.

I think it's one of the worst films I have ever seen - but I still think it's the best Christmas film ever made.
I've never seen it and only the last 20 minutes of It's a Wonderful Life moves me. Probably agree with Love Actually, it's got a bit of everything.
My top three:

1. The Muppet Christmas Carol
2. The Nightmare Before Christmas
3. The Snowman
i forgot about muppet xmas carol (chris did you see they found a new song in it?) but i still think love actually is better.
I saw arthur chrsitmas this afternoon and it was great?
Miracle on 34th Street. The original, obviously.
My husband would agree, I wouldn't.
Yes, Bednobs, I did read about the 'new' (i.e. reinstated) song in the movie. It's due to get its first UK airing on BBC Radio 2 during 'The Muppets at Christmas: It's Time To Play The Music' at 7pm on Christmas Day.
Love Actually...I never get tired of it.
die hard is the best xmas movie, no contest!

I agree Die Hard. But I really like Die Hard 2. (That’s the one in the airport?)
