As much as I don't think anyone could of done any better or any worse than Boris Johnson in such exceptional circumstances, how can a date like Feb 3rd be just plucked out of the air ?

perhaps it wasn't.

It's a very flowery statement Emmie
" a sunset of Feb 3rd" how would they know?
no one knows, that's the point, this is changing quickly and what might be Feb 3rd could become March or later. I think he is damned no matter what date he or his government chooses.
"After the fourth fortnightly review (27 January), parliament will have another vote on the tiered approach, determining whether the measures stay in place until the end of March."

But haven't dates been plucked out of the air all along from when lockdown first started back in March?
perhaps they have, but one must be seen to be doing something than sitting there doing nothing.

Yes ILM they appeared to have been , perhaps not giving a specific date would be better?
Emmie I'm a Boris supporter and I agree the man's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, but setting mandates is clearly not working for him because he doesn't have a crystal ball
I was just stating a fact emmie, I didn't say anything about them sitting there and doing nothing.
perhaps its to give some hope that this will sooner than later come to an end.
i think he is on a hiding to nothing by the way. no matter the dates many wont be happy.

Even members of his party are said to be voting against it,I'm surprised the man hasn't got soaring BP, who'd have his job!!!
He isn't making these decisions alone - he has a whole team, including the scientists advising. I bet that there are those who would jump into his shoes at the drop of a hat
Exactly, Bobbi. He's faced greater challenges than any of his predecessors and he can't do right for doing wrong.

I hate to think what a hash-up it would be if Corbyn had been the man steering us through this crisis.
i wonder if the Labour people given the chance would have made a better job of it
Corbyn would have sent all the vaccines to his friends in the Middle East.
Labour have stated that they will back Boris so, no doubt about it,it will go in Boris's favour.
so SKS has done something good for the sake of the country.
Labour will support him and it will get through. They are also in a difficult position because if they do not and it comes back, it does not put them in a very good light. As for the Tory rebels, they have their head in the clouds and are only looking after their own jobs. I do not envy any Government trying to get through this very difficult period. Hopefully an end in sight, but it is going to be a very long time before we are back to normal, if ever. We have to try and make the most of every day, there is always someone worse off than you, keep safe, and look out for others.
The vote will go the way of the government.
There isn’t the slightest doubt about that.
Because there’s no alternative plan.
I’m 99.9% convinced there’ll be no significant Tory revolt and 100% Labour
riptide couldn't agree more.
