we have no mobile signal here so landline is essential. Also get fed up of banks etc unable to comprehend mobile number is worse than useless here
I use my landline all the time. Mobile is rarely switched on, always seem to need recharging. Only there for emergencies.
Don't have Landline now,only a Mobile.
Still have mine for internet and comes in handy when I cannot find my mobile phone.
Landline only. Don’t want a mobile.
Landline for me too, my mobile which is almost 20 years old is an occasional alarm clock and for taxis home if I'm out.
I still have a land-line phone/fax/copier machine made in the '80s. It's so old it requires thermal fax-paper, not that I often use it as a fax machine!
I still have a landline, I prefer to have conversations on it , I don't like using my mobile I just use that for texts and short calls .
Yes. My mobile is for emergencies and online banking security only, usually switched off.
We use the landline still for incoming and outgoing calls. We both have mobiles too but I avoid giving the numbers out beyond family and close friends as I cant stand feeling obliged to have a conversation with the doctor for example, in the street!

If the mobile rings its really hard not to take the call, but if it rings at home when I'm out I can call back at my leisure.

Another thing I'd miss about the decline in landline use, is having conversations with your OH's friends and family occaisionally. If my sister rings and I'm in the garden Mr M will answer and have a chat while I come to the phone. Same with his family. If its all text or mobile calls, we'd lose that interaction.
LOL - I know its a generation thing, and I cant imagine not having a mobile now, but I did prefer it when it was socially unacceptable to talk on your phone in ear shot of strangers.
Not a problem these days:

I'm surprised you still have a 2G system.

We lost our 2G a couple of years ago, with a 2-month warning, "Buy a new phone."
The old flip-phone was all I needed.

All I know is it works - if it stops then I'll have to do something about it.
I only keep my landline because I have an alarm pendant with which I can summon help if I have a fall at home. It operates through the landline, otherwise I would get rid.
Heck, no. Almost four years ago !

Put another shilling in the meter, eh ?
Odd. The site wouldn't let me post here for ~ 5 min.
If I looked at another thread the same unsent post was there.
Then Jackdaw got through.
2nd time this happened tonight, but different thread.

Do I have to talk to the ED ?
It owes me nothing for sure, I heard on TV a week or so ago Roger Daltry still uses one too.

Indeed. "Please insert another shilling, caller, and press button A"
