Reading a letter today in the paper - was the BBC right to leave Boris's COVID briefing on Saturday night for Strictly Come Dancing? I know it continued on the BBC news channel but were they right?

I guess so Daz, it had been leaked anyway so people knew what he was about to say
C'mon it was bad enough it was on a Saturday anyway. Crashing into SCD would have invoked the home counties into apoplectic fervid action. Well, a stiff letter to the times anyway.
well boris had kept them waiting
Hehe, definitely a BA Zac :0)))
I tend to think a public announcement from the PM in a crisis should outrank a dancing contest so no the BBC were not right.
But people knew by the news leading up to it anyway TTT ?
And it was only a couple of clicks to get to the BBC News channel for those who wish to self flagellate themselves with more misery.
they new what was leaked and here-say from gawd knows who not what he was actually going to say.
But he'd said all the important stuff by the time The Sequin'd ones were on.
Much of what was leaked TTT, mind you I didn't watch Strictly either
There were a few time changes and it got later and later. As soon as it ended I just switched to News 24 to hear the press Qs. I don't watch SCD so that didn't effect me.

well a stiff letter to Bicycle News ( why dat den? - Diary of a Nobody George n Weedon Grossmith 1890- Mr Pooters preferred organ for dissent)

when Nelson Mandela's walk to freedom cut into Antiques Roadshow there were 86 000 mainly OAPs telling the Been it cd have waited.
Oh crikey, I've just remembered we recorded it, paused SCD and watched the salient bits. I was a few glasses into some Morretti and a rather nice Primitivo.
I would sooner know if I could visit my Grand daughter on her 9th birthday in November than watch a load of dancing. If I were that interested I could set 'my shows' and record the dancing but I have my priorities.
Exactly!
I stayed with Boris till the bitter end, and a bitter end it was :0(
Presumably, Boris fans are too dim to change channels?
Didn't think many here watched the BBC.
Yes, some of need a bit of sparkle in our lives, especially those of us who work in a hospital!
