There is a 30 minute programme on the Talking Pictures TV channel tonight at 8.30pm called A Day Begins in Manchester. It is set in the 60's and might be worth a watch. Freeview 81 Freestat 306 Sky 328 Virgin 445

...and if you miss it, it will probably be repeated! I think this channel is great and I wish there was some way of asking them to repeat other "old" programmes - but Many Thanks for this Bakers, I hadn't checked the listings.
Thanks for the heads up! As an "Old Mancunian", this was my heyday. I remember going to the clubs(The Twisted Wheel et al), and seeing Jimmy Saville swanning around in his roller!! Something to look forward to.
Although not a Mancunian,I remember The Wheel very well!
I only visited manchester in the sixties

Not watched it yet as I have recorded it. Mr BD used to go to the Twisted Wheel a lot with my brother. Remember him staying out at an all nighter without letting his mum know. Oh boy was he in trouble. No mobile phones in those days.
I seem to recall The Twisted Wheel was in Church Street. Is that right?
Enjoyed the programme bakers, thank you. Short but sweet x

Thats a great link, Eleena. Might have to purchase a few of those.
It is Tony.
We used to travel into Manchester only on a Sunday evening for a 'quiet night'.. We always tried to sink a few in the Circus Tavern .. if we could manage to squeeze in. If not, there was always quite a few other close by pubs.
Our quiet night always turned into a mini pub crawl with 10.30pm closing back then.
