Did anyone watch this last night? If so, what did you think of it?

A whole hour of unadulterated bliss, Sarah Lancashire as 'An Ordinary Woman' was anything but.

Wonderfully observed and written and beautifully portrayed.

Both very good. Preferred the first, especially at the end for the humour.

i liked the first one very much with very dark humour
but I turned the second one off as I did not appreciate the subject matter
bet I was just being too prudish

It isn't prudish not to like something because of the subject matter.

They were very different and of course the humour in the first and the fact that incarceration was actually Miss Ruddock's liberation was delightful.

Loved the first but must admit the second made me feel slightly uncomfortable. Maybe that's because I remember when my son was 15?

Could be Maggie, it's quite a subject to broach really and I certainly felt it well handled, drama can be uncomfortable at times I suppose.

The second one did actually make me feel slightly uncomfortable too and rather sad. It had destroyed a mother and son relationship probably for ever and like Maggie I was remembering my son at 15.

The acting was superb in both.
I really felt Miss Ruddock’s loneliness and then happiness.
Sarah Lancashire played her character to perfection but I was befuddled by the storyline really as it was a subject I had not encountered before. As Apc has said the loss of that relationship was just sad.

It's a tribute to Bennett that Sarah Lancashire describes being asked to play the role of Gwen as 'the opportunity of a lifetime'.

but I am looking forward to the rest

They are monologues, almost confessional in style rather than conversations.

The only other new one we won't have seen in previous series is t'The Shrine' starring Monica Dolan.

I did not watch the previous one and only flipped over because football isn't football without the atmosphere that and Leicester only managed a draw . but was pleasantly surprised
