Did anyone else watch this? Clearly a highly intelligent man in a great deal of pain, I thought it was very brave of him to expose his life to the cameras. I sincerely hope he finds peace ... and if someone offers him work so much the better.

I really meant to watch this. I will have to catch it on catch up. Thanks for the reminder.
I haven't watched it ( probably will on bbc iplayer ), but I can remember reading an article about him some years back about his problems. Was sad reading.
I watched it Naomi. Two lovely men I thought. It was very moving and like you I hope he does continue down the road he started on at the end of the programme and finds some peace. Didn't he have an offer of some work?
I read an interview with him about a year ago.
Sensitively handled.Seems such a lovely guy with a shedload of demons, do hope he's got them caged now and offers of work will come in.

Did he have work, LB? If he did I didn't catch it. I so admired his honesty. Very brave I thought. And the loyalty of his partner was second to none. So impressed with the whole programme. I really, sincerely, wish him the very best.
I didn't watch it but remember him from Whose Line Is It Anyway. He always seemed a bit manic but I really liked him.

Will have a look on catch up.
I did watch it. What a mess he is in physically due to his alcohol addiction. Sad .

Tigger, I loved Whose Line is it Anyway? That's something I wouldn't mind watching repeats of.
What a beautiful man, I hope he finds a way forward.
what is the matter with Tony Slattery?
he has a depressive illness and it can totally wreck your life....

I think the drugs follow the depression rather than the other way round ( unvalidated opinion)
The last time I saw Tony acting on the tv was in Kingdom which starred Stephen Fry. He'd been off the screens for years and I was pleasantly surprised to see him. He and Stephen are great mates and I'm sure Stephen pulled some strings to get him the part.
Then he disappeared again.
I loved him in Whose Line Is It Anyway, such a quick mind and very funny

To clarify, 'What's The Matter With Tony Slattery?' is the title of the programme.
& alcohol Peter. I think Stephen Fry a long time friend summed him up as "not having a malevolent bone in his body" He has a partner that loves him unconditionally, must be so very hard though.
I was crazy about Tony back in the day, and met him once. He was very quiet and polite - not like his extrovert persona on the telly.
Very sad to see him in such a state now. Luckily, he’s got his partner who clearly adores him.
I watched it. Very sad, but hopefully he can get start to get some help. I always wondered what had happened to him.
He had some gigs lined up for the Edinburgh fringe this year which would have been brilliant for him to get back to doing what he loves. Sadly, that’s been scuppered by CV of course.
I watched it and echo everything that's been said here. It was heartbreaking to see someone I really liked in his heyday, intelligent, funny, handsome, being in such depths of despair for so long. Hoping he finds peace and happiness again.
A very interesting watch. Tony is obviously very intelligent and very loved and supported. This is just not enough for him to overcome his consuming anger(the first thing he feels when he wakes every day)
My heart went out to him and his partner.
I find it difficult to understand how these *** abusers do what they do to young children. Those children become adults and many are clouded by the abuse forever. Don’t even get me started on the fact that it was a priest who did what Tony so graphically described.
I fear he will not know true peace of mind until he stops drinking.
I wish them both well.
I've not seen it, I also only know him from 'Who's line is it anyway' agreeing with Tigger and Naomi a show I'd happily see repeats of.
I kept wondering what he does for money if he hasn't worked for years. How does he pay his bills, let alone buy drink? It must be utterly exhausting and frustrating for his partner, who seems to be amazingly caring and helpful.
