Don't answer just to Troll, if you hate Bond fine I don't want to know.
Some suggestions here ....

....but I've been impressed with Taron Egerton of late and I think he'd make a great Bond.

Clive Owen would've made sense twenty years ago, but again...he's way too old now.

As written by Ian Fleming, James Bond was in his early 30s.

Sean Connery was 32 when his first Bond movie was released.

George Lazenby was 30.

Roger Moore was 46.

Timothy Dalton was 41.

Pierce Brosnan was 43

Daniel Craig was 38.
Jason Statham
//Apart from the loss of revenue from those who would not accept a black Bond//

You change "Bond" to "Superhero" and you have the argument folk made about Black Panther. The black community showed that if they embrace a movie, it can make billions.

//there's also the issue of age.

Idris Elba is FAR too old to play Bond.

He's 47.//

Daniel Craig is 52.
Woah, Clive Owen is 55. Thought he was nearer 40.

and Roger Moore was 58 when he retired from the role.

a non-Caucasian actor playing the role of Bond would not detract from the character. the only thing the audience would have to do (maybe ought to do) is ignore the credibility gap, in that no non-Caucasian has ever (to date) attained the respective rank in the armed forces.
Yes, Jason Statham!!!!

In this instance, I don't think the change can be made. The Black Panther was never played by a white actor, so the two aren't comparable.

However, there *is* a Marvel precedent. At the end of Endgame, Captain America (played by Chris Evans) hands his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) - the success of future Captain America instalments might be a better example of the success of cross-racial casting.
Ben Barnes
That's true, although it does also mirror the comic books (both Sam and Bucky Barnes have had stints as Cap). I think the whole race card is going to be explored in the Falcon and Winter Soldier TV show that's coming up when normal life returns.
I would've also said Douglas Booth but he's probably too young and too pretty.

//and Roger Moore was 58 when he retired from the role.//

And do you remember how he looked in those films?

I don't think the world is ready to return to the 'safari suit and beige slacks' Bond.

I'd put my money on James Norton, especially after McMafia. He 'looks' like a Bond.

Also, too many of the names (eg. Statham) are of very established actors. Tom Hardy is frequently mentioned, but the problem is - he's too big already.

by the same token then, so is Idris Elba. unless, that is, his prominence is due to the ease with which he makes the ladies glue themselves to their chairs.
Gotta be me.

Jason Statham - noooo. I have no idea why he's become the star he has, I won't watch anything with him in and he's not in the least bit attractive either.
Can't believe some of you are suggesting Daniel Mays. Not even on the board of possibles as far as the bookies are concerned - and Prince Harry is (@500/1). As is Jeremy Corbyn, Hugh Grant, David Walliams, etc. Can't really see Bond enthusiasts rushing to see Mays as 007. Might have a few quid on Tom Hiddleston @ 10s...………………..

Jason Statham

The names Jason, Jason Statham.

Jason Statham can only play Jason Statham.

Yes agreed...it needs to be someone who is largely unrecognised and can put his own stamp on the role.

Ken - I think that Daniel Mays is one of the countries best actors (see him in Line Of Duty) but I can't see him as Bond. It'd be like having Stephen Graham or Eddie Marsan as Bond.

Amazing actors, but...
* country's

APG: "and what TTT may I ask is a 'proper' English accent? At the last count there are approximately 37 different accents/dialects in the UK. :-)" i should have said an English non accent. If you recognise where it's from it's wrong, with the only exception being Sean Connery, "yesh mish money penny"! that's allowed! Any of the Bonds so far have it, slightly different from each other but acceptable, even the aussie model.
