I enjoyed it - read some criticism of the lack of Dutch accents but the story was fast moving but easy to follow. One of those programmes I will sit down to watch in future.

First shown on our TVs in 1972, it’s nice when a resurgence works as very often , they don’t
I enjoyed it too, the balance was just right and the storyline flowed well.

I didn't feel the need to compare it to the old series.
"One of those programmes I will sit down to watch in future." Why, did you watch it standing up, lanky? :-)
^^^ neither did I coz I didn’t watch it anyway, I was simply saying it was first shown in 1972!
Droll Ken ;-)

I liked the interaction between him and the new copper 'Clueless'. It didn't take a science degree to understand the story either which I like in an easy watching programme. Nothing worse than when the story line goes off at a tangent that you have no idea about at the beginning or half way through you still haven't met all the characters.
I found Belgravia quite hard to follow for that very reason Lankeela

Lol Ken, no I usually sit at the computer and turn round occasionally to watch bits of a programme - very rarely do I actually go and sit in an armchair to watch a whole one but this one felt right. The five dogs agreed with me and in about five minutes I could not have moved if I wanted to!
//I didn't feel the need to compare it to the old series. //

I'm pleased you said that, Mamyalynne. For one awful moment I thought they'd resorted to showing repeats from 1972!
I do that too Lankeela, it's a measure of a good programme when I put down what I'm doing and simply watch.
I should have added my comments to the earlier thread when this was discussed, they would have made more sense - apologies.
Yes it was good. I put my lap top down.
I was glad I had read previous comments so watched it without trying to compare it to the previous series. I thought it was a good first episode and liked Marc Warren in the part, although not sure why they didn’t have a completely fresh title for it.
"Criticism of the lack of Dutch accents" seem a bit daft. It's in Amsterdam....they wouldn't have had Dutch accents, the dialogue would have been in Dutch.
definitely, enjoyable but the Dutch accents, well - but then you ought to hear them mimic us....it's all about keeping the upper jaw quiet or using it.....
you mean Van der Walk - - has just vorked off ?
sorry sorry
Van Der Valk was must-see viewing back in the 70s.I wont watch this though, probably PC as Hell.Like they did to Dr Who and quite a few others.
What gender is Van Der Valk in this series anyway?Male, female or LGBT?
Maybe a questioning dyke?
You'll never know ynnafymmi as you won't watch it.
