I spent a couple of hours last night with tears crawling down my face. Tears of sadness, and tears of laughter. I've just read that Ricky Gervais has said, writing and directing the series, whilst immensely satisfying, is also daunting. He should try watching it! I only made it through the first four brilliant episodes before the emotional roller-coaster became too much. I'll most likely complete the series tonight.
Anyone else tuned in, yet?

Yeah...watched it all in one go. Very sad ending.
Yes I think it's excellent and I don't normally like Ricky Gervais. Traumatic and funny in equal measure. Watched the first series but only one of series 2 so far.
Watched it all in one go. Excellent, like Series 1 was. The ending wasn’t all that sad, ummmm. Both series of After Life are among my all time fave series. I could watch them over and over. My fave scenes are Tony and Anne on the bench at the graveyard. Aside from them, I love the characters of Sandy and Roxy, both of whom are brilliantly acted. My personal nitpicks are: the awful work experience boy is badly miscast, and why would any sane person keep returning to that terrible therapist?
Fantastic script & acting!
Didn't you just know the poster & the sex worker would not it off! ;0)
*postman*
*would hit it off*

Do 'sane' people need to see trick cyclists, thesshhh?
And, unfortunately, because of ummmm's almost giving the game away, I am second-guessing what the sadness involves. Obviously I have a very good idea
My sister loves Ricky Gervaise. Really enjoyed the first series but was very disappointed with this latest one. Thought it was over the top, and childish. Put me off watching it now.
Ken, I haven't almost given it away.
It upset me a lot. But only because I can relate to it. Really well written and very well cast.
I haven't watched the end yet but I'm laughing and crying - and sometimes shocked! I never liked Ricky Gervais but started watching this on a recommendation here. What superb programme. So different... and I've changed my mind about Ricky Gervais.
Maybe a spoiler alert should have been posted on this thread ?
I don’t think a spoiler alert is needed, I read this post as I watched episode 2 and it didn’t spoil anything for me.
I have yet to start episode 2, but hey ho .
I meant series 2.
As I did . :-)
Ideally posts about current programmes should always carry a spoiler alert. That said, I haven't clicked on the link posted and nothing said here has spoilt it for me... fortunately.
It really is an emotional roller-coaster isn't it. I mean how many TV shows can you name that will have you laughing and crying all at the same time. I'm going to watch it again in case I missed anything whilst I was sobbing.
