What a scare on Friday's show when he
slipped up and quoted Canada as the country
with the highest number of the virus, albeit
quickly corrected to China.
The panei who had previousjy lectured us on
subjects such as why there are more male statues
than those of women in this country, hadn't a clue
on general knowledge e.g. Prime minister in 1936
Churchill and Attlee were given, very poor answers
for people in the media.

I can't stand the man at any point..
I have to switch off anything that involves Jeremy Vine...and his radio 2 programme is appalling.
Something must have happened with Mathew Wright and Ch 5, I saw him interviewed a while back, he intimated he’d had a nervous breakdown through events with the channel and he went with his wife’s blessing at Christmas, on a fishing trip to the Caribbean, leaving her and their new baby at home, it was there that he was able to evaluate his life, I liked him much more than JV who seems to have the same people on his show all the time, they only rotate
I watched a Celebrity Mastermind recently. The standard of general knowledge was abysmal.

I quite like Jeremy Vine. I think he does a good job. (I seem to remember Matthew Wright had a falling out with Channel 5 and was fired. Can't remember why).
I try to stop away from daytime TV apart from the news, and one dose of that is enough. I did see the start of JV yesterday morning, not sure who dresses him but he looked like a circus master with his red silk jacket and flowery shirt. :0) He reminds me of Killroy Silk who also loved himself. These shows are more of an habit than interesting, much prefer a battle on here. :0)
I have the news or politics on when I'm putting my makeup on - or if I'm pottering about or ironing in the kitchen. I never sit and watch television during the day.
I used to like watching MW and then JV because I like learning the topics of the day/week,but two women I cannot abide ,1,Yasmin Alibhai -Brown and 2, Nicola McLean, ones a total gobchit and the others a racist bigot ( I’ll leave you to work out which one) are there on a two week rota, tv goes off when either of them are on
totally agree about Yasmin whatsername,,, gobby racist
I believe she was a young person in Idi Amins Uganda when GB ( it was then) opened its gates to the persecuted of the despots regime, I’d have to check Wikipedia to see if she was a journalist in Uganda before arriving here

Was it the one when Adrian Edmondson won the contest BEFORE he'd started the general knowledge round, because the others were so clueless. They were embarrassingly bad.

Jeremy Vine? I far prefer his brother. I love a good pun.
I think ‘celebs’ are a bit thick on shows like Mastermind, not all, but some are
Yes, Mozz - that's the one. Really embarrassing.
Is there any rule that says celebrities should be any less thicker than the rest of the
populus ?
None at all Baz but I guess it’s because there well known people think they know them?
Does James Max on the JV prog know anything at all
Jeremy Vine loves the sound of his own voice, never using one word when twenty will do.

No wonder you're so knowledgeable, Naomi. x

Matthew Wright is on Talk Radio with Kevin(the TV guy)
I dont like Lowri Turner on the panel.. She drives me bonkers!
Storm Huntley makes up for her though. I think she is great at her job and I find her very entertaining..
I wouldn't regard "Who was the Prime Minister in 1936?" as a 'general knowledge' question. I'd regard it as a 'specialist history' question. I'd certainly have to guess at the answer.
Naomi - “I watched a Celebrity Mastermind recently. The standard of general knowledge was abysmal.”

It seems to me that most people in the main-stream media are monumentally thick. I know that sounds hyperbolic but I believe it to be true. When quiz shows run “celebrity” versions, the questions quite clearly get dumbed down in order to make the celebs seem more knowledgeable than they are. Watch the 'normal' “Mastermind” quiz and then watch the celebrity version – they're like chalk and cheese.

It's hardly surprising when you think about it. Actors, journalists, singers, poets, etc. generally don't do the STEM courses. They probably wouldn't be able to spell it let alone tell you what the acronym means.

Case in point, watch this. These two news anchors think that 1 million dollars could be given to every person in the USA if the pot of money was 500 million....
